Information for Students from Nigeria
Why study with us?
Since its beginnings in 1976, the Buckingham 法学院 has benefited from its connections with Nigeria, and significant numbers of Nigerian students have, over the years, taken advantage of our two-year LLB programme in order to obtain a Qualifying 法 Degree (QLD).
Those who already have a first degree in a non-law subject may qualify for our International Scholarship.
Two year degrees
Taking less time to complete than most law degrees, the Buckingham LLB (Single Honours Law) covers, as well as the fundamental subjects required by the legal profession in England and Wales, a number of elective subjects: these include Company Law, Evidence and Commercial 法, amongst others.
More recently, the Oil and Gas “pathway”, which we introduced into our LLM in International and Commercial 法 some years ago, has also proved attractive to Nigerian students seeking to further their studies with a Master’s degree.
After the degree
Most of our Nigerian students return home to Nigeria after graduating, in order to qualify as lawyers and, ultimately, go into legal practice. In order to do so, Nigerian students who graduate with a Buckingham LLB must gain admission to the Nigerian 法学院 and take the courses and examinations prescribed by the Nigerian Council of Legal 教育 (NCLE) in order to qualify for call to the Nigerian Bar.

Nigerian students wishing to gain admission to the Nigerian Law School must also obtain a transcript, signed by the Registrar, and a completed Faculty Reference form, stamped and signed by the Dean of 法: these must be sent to the Nigerian 法学院 when you make your formal application.
Nigerian applicants are advised to visit the Nigerian 法学院’s website.
